Article 17 — The Archangels

The Archangels: who are the invisible messengers who accompany humanity?

The Goal of the Wise — Door Number Seventeen

Read aloud in English

What if angels were not only beings belonging to a distant world, but could also intervene directly in our daily existence?

In the seventeenth Door of The Goal of the Wise, Abdullah Hashem Aba Al-Sadiq (From Him is Peace) explores the role of the archangels in the history of divine guidance.

The Abrahamic traditions present angels as servants of God, charged with transmitting messages, protecting and carrying out various missions.

But the chapter goes further: it examines the possibility that some of these beings appear in human form.

Messengers between the visible and the invisible world

The Quran mentions the possibility that an angel sent to people takes on the appearance of a human being.

This idea raises a question: how can one recognize a messenger whose appearance does not reveal his true nature?

From the book's perspective, spiritual identity is not limited to physical appearance.

The archangels can therefore be regarded as beings whose mission goes beyond the usual boundaries between the material world and the invisible world.

Divine protection in daily life

The chapter reports in particular accounts of protection and intervention attributed to angelic beings.

These stories invite reflection on the way divine providence could act without being immediately recognized.

Unexpected help, a decisive encounter or an inexplicable protection can be given a spiritual interpretation.

This does not mean that every unusual event necessarily constitutes an angelic intervention.

The book rather presents a vision in which human beings perceive only a part of the realities that surround them.

The archangels and the continuity of guidance

The archangels hold a particular place in the transmission of divine messages.

They connect the different prophetic eras and take part, in religious tradition, in carrying out the missions entrusted by God.

This continuity is in line with one of the fundamental themes of The Goal of the Wise: guidance is not limited to the events of the past.

It is part of a spiritual history that continues.

Conclusion — Are we alone?

The seventeenth Door invites us to consider human existence within a vaster spiritual universe.

It presents the archangels as agents of divine guidance and protection.

What if certain essential realities of our existence simply escaped our usual perception?
